There’s something that I find interesting which doesn’t seem to intrigue too many other people. It’s the use of numbers in names. I’m interested in it with both personal names and business names. I like it with one but not the other. Can you guess which is which?

Personal names that have numbers of them interest me on a social level. I’m talking about when there are five generations of men with the same name so you have so-and-so the 2nd, 3rd, etc. This interests me because it seems to suggest that the family’s name (and therefore the family) is more important than a unique name (and therefore the individual).

Business names that have numbers interest me because they make me curious about them. When I see a brand like Room Seven, I want to know what the seven is for. When I learn about a company like Deux Par Deux, I get curious about why it has that European numerical name.

So, the answer is that I like business names with numbers in them but I don’t particularly care for personal names with numbers in them. Now I need to think about how I feel when people use online screen names that include numbers!
