Ideas for a Good Business Website

keyword search

A good business website usually means more than just listing your location, hours of operation, and perhaps an “About Us” page.  In order to be a website customers will find and go to, it also needs to have something more of value to them.

Don’t get me wrong — the basic information is definitely important.  You will always get customers who want to be able to go to your website in order to check your address or your hours of operation.  Others will like seeing your picture and learning a little about your business’s history.  But a truly good website needs a little more than just that.

One way to make your website valuable for potential customers is to post a small collection of informational articles that pertain to your product or service.  Your articles should help them make a decision, learn how to do something, or whatever other information potential customers might be looking for — the goal is to get them on your site so that you have a chance at making a sale.

For instance, if your business installs ADT home security systems, you might publish some articles on your website with information such as how to choose the right security system for you, the difference between different systems and manufacturers, how to use certain features, etc.

What other things can you think of that you can put on your website to make it useful to potential customers?
