Every Business Needs a Website

In today’s online-driven world, every business needs a website, even if it’s not an online business.
The Internet is a major resource for anyone searching for information, especially for consumers searching for products and businesses. The Yellow and White Pages, Google’s business search, and other resources enable consumers to find information about businesses on the Web, but they will tend to choose those businesses that offer more information about themselves, generally in the form of a website.
As an example, consider Everblue Energy. The company offers LEED training for companies and LEED test prep for individuals. Although they do not offer this training online, their website is an excellent resource for potential customers and students. Users can easily find the information they need, such as the availability for courses in their cities.
In addition to providing information, another purpose for a company website is so that potential customers can make contact and ask questions. Even if the business you eventually do with them is not online, consumers really do like the convenience of email. It enables them to request information at any time, and not just during store hours; to determine whether they want to do business with you, before taking the time or spending the gas to drive down; and to avoid dealing with automated phone systems, long waits spend on hold, and other annoyances of asking questions over the phone.
Of course, if you have a brick-and-mortar business, your website does not have to be as elaborate as the example linked to above — a home page, about page, and contact page are often all you need to provide the information your customers need. Other resources, however — such as articles, a company blog, and a links page — can make your website more useful and therefore more likely to draw potential customers.
