Cheer Up a Sick Person

One of the worst experiences that almost all of us eventually go through is a stay in the hospital. It’s lonely. It’s frightening. And it’s uncomfortable. If someone that you care about is in the hospital, you want to do everything that you can to make that person feel more comfortable.

Some ideas for cheering up someone who is in the hospital include:

  • Put on a happy face. It’s difficult enough to be sick but then most sick people are worried about how this illness is affecting their loved ones. Try to put on a happy face to reduce the person’s stress. Rely on the rest of your support system to get through this.
  • Act silly. Don’t just pretend that everything’s okay. Instead, try to lighten the mood in the room by acting silly. If someone you love will be in the hospital for a long time then do something outrageous like get the whole family dressed up in plus size costumes and halloween wigs just to make everyone laugh.
  • Get the right gifts. We always get flowers, cards and balloons for people when they’re in the hospital but is that really want your loved one wants? A more personal gift might be a better choice.

By brightening up the stay of someone in the hospital you not only make the experience easier for them but also may feel better about it yourself.
