I am not a barfly, but there is a fun bar not too far from my house that has occasional special events that are a lot of fun. For example, last month they rented a couple of those big goofy sumo wrestling suits that they zip you into and had sumo wrestling for prizes. It was such a hoot to watch all of these people don the bulky suits and then try to bounce each other out of the ring. I shouldn’t admit this, but even though I’m a pretty big and athletic guy, I got beat by one of the waitresses!

But since I don’t go there all that often, I really had trouble finding out when their special events would be. They kind of have a website, but it is a big corporate website which doesn’t show events at the individual franchise locations. So while I was there, I signed up for their email list. Of course I commented to one of the owners that it would probably get caught in my spam blocker since they send out stuff as a bulk email distribution list. She explained that it doesn’t work that way since they put me on an opt in list. Since I gave them permission, it is not spam. So now I get updates on when the special events are!
