One of the guys from my office, James, whom I know only casually despite working with him just about every day for the last five years, had a built in gas grill at installed at his new house. He’d been trying to finish building it for almost two years, but problems with financing and contractors had been delaying it constantly.

Anyway, I was talking to James about the whole ordeal, and he told me that he’d actually had most of the house finished two years ago, but he was holding off finishing the backyard. It sounds ridiculous because he could have sold his other house and avoided paying double property taxes and what not for two years, but to be fair, the back yard and patio were incredible.

It was basically an outdoor kitchen, dining room and den. He had a top of the line island grill and bar with a sink, fridge and freezer, and a bar with granite countertops. Next to the bar and grill was a dining area with roof overhead and a marble patio table. And to top it all off, the patio had a little offshoot into the backyard, which had amazing landscaping, that was a Florida room with a retractable roof and an outdoor fireplace.
