The Designing of My Son’s Room

Redesigning my teenager’s room has been a bit challenging this year, because my son is not your typical teenage boy. He is very creative and artsy, but not much into the normal sports and robotic designs that are out now.  When I gave him the opportunity to choose his own furniture, the choice of his bedroom set was more feminine than others; he wanted a day bed with the storage drawers underneath. It came in a dark wood that complimented the dressers that he already had in his room now, so it actually worked perfectly. Also, his reasoning for his choice was wise because in having a good amount of storage underneath, it would allow a place for all of his drawing supplies and materials.

When I asked him what types of decorations that he would like to have in his room, he said that he liked the idea of using his own drawings for the walls. I went one step further and asked him if he wanted to paint a mural on one his walls, he quickly said yes. So, after buying the paint for him, he only took a day to finish a really nice depiction of the Eiffel Tower with a neutral colored landscaping background. We completed the room with one of the tan comforters that he picked out and it was just the finishing touch to his room that pulled it all together.
