Jobs Today for Ex-Alcoholics

The employment situation in this country is not a pretty one. Even people with advanced degrees and a lifetime of experience in their field may find that they can’t get or keep a full-time job right now because of cutbacks caused by the recession. So what are the chances that someone with a history of drug or alcohol abuse will be able to find a job?
Surprisingly, the chances for these people aren’t any slimmer than they are for anyone else. Many people who have successfully completed a Florida alcohol treatment program will be able to find work either within alcohol treatment centers in Florida or through the job assistance programs that are provided by these organizations.
Where the difference lies is actually in how difficult it will be to keep these jobs. Employers today are cutting people like crazy so if you don’t show that you can do a stellar job right away then you’re not going to last long at any job that you do get. This has nothing to do with your history of alcohol problems and everything to do with the economic situation today.
If you’re having trouble finding a job, don’t blame it on alcohol. Instead, blame it on the economy. Or better yet, stop blaming anything and just ask yourself what you can do to improve your situation. We’re all in the same boat so let’s just make the best of it.
