When the First Business Goes Nowhere

I started my first online business from scratch when I was essentially a child. I had just graduated from High School and was selling off all of my old baseball cards and video games that had accrued over the course of a half dozen Christmases through online auctions. The result was a nice wad of cash that would allow me to move into my first apartment within a few weeks without needing to borrow money from my parents. That’s not to say they were unhappy that I had sold everything they bought me, but they were slightly proud I had made enough money on my own to live comfortably for at least a couple of months.

What neither of us foresaw though was the incredible growth my eBay endeavors would enjoy in just a few short months. After I learned to make money online I essentially couldn’t stop. I started to sell just about anything I could get my hands on, from cheap promotional products to beanie babies and dishware. It didn’t last too long, as I eventually got overwhelmed by college, but the rush and the shear volume of income I was able to generate doing this at 19 years of age was astounding even to me – the Internet is one powerful tool.
