You’ve decided that you want to start an online business. You’ve even decided that this is going to be a product-based business designed to sell Greek apparel to students in sororities and fraternities across the nation. You’re certain that there’s a market out there for these products and that you could do well for yourself by targeting this market.

What you’re not so sure about is how to get started. Here are the steps that you need to take to start your Greek clothing business:

1. Pick a name. Clothing for Greeks, Stuff for Sorority Sisters, Fraternity Duds … Your name needs to get attention and sell your product in a simple phrase.
2. Get a domain and set up your website. The cornerstore of the online business is a good website so spend some time here. Use the business name as your domain name, create a blog, find advertisers and make sure that you understand your online storefront.
3. Decide what to sell. Will you have a section of black Greek Gear? Do you want a page devoted to different keychains? Will you have custom items or just generic ones? Is the men’s apparel section going to be as extensive as the women’s? Narrow down what you sell.
4. Find suppliers and get stock on hand. If you’re going to ship from home, you need to have everything ready to go.
5. Set a work schedule. At first, there won’t be many customers. You still need to work from 9-5 daily to really get the business off the ground. There’s always more to be done.
6. Advertise, advertise, advertise.

After the website is up and running, you just need to keep spreading the word and staying focused. There are always going to be new Greeks out there so you just have to make sure that they know about you.
